Wednesday 25th March 2009 (Day of Prayer)

Greetings Brethren in the name of Jesus.

At Westside Christian Fellowship Assembly; All Wednesdays had been dedicated as prayer days. We meet at 19h00 and dedicate an hour of prayer to our Lord.

We start by worshiping; then we go straight to the word. After that we read prayer requests and then we engage ourselves in prayer.

This week message (25th March 2009)

SUMMARY OF THE SERMON

Psalms 91:1,2,3,4,14 & 15 (Holy Bible)-New International Version

1. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2. “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

3. “Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

4. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

This is the thought we will pray for, so that we may dwell in the secrete place of the Most High and rest in Him; for He is our refuge.

When I trust, I trust no man but God. Why? Because He is my fortress.

No matter what the world has, and no matter what the world says; we shall dwell in Him as His children.

We are not supposed to dwell in the premises of man, but of God only.

God will deliver us from any challenges and difficulties, only if we dwell in His secrete place as an Almighty.

No matter what challenges we are facing; He shall cover us under His wings.

Verse 14 “‘Because He loves me,’ says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledge my name.”

Moreover, God loves us. Amen!

Verse 15. We shall base our prayer today on this verse. It says, “He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”

When we call upon Him, He shall answer; and God will surely deliver us because he is there for us. Say Amen! Only if we dwell in His secrete place.

God is our refuge and fortress.

Jesus Himself on the cross, called upon God when He shouted “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” He needed God’s presence. Likewise, we need God’s presence in our lives.

We need to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift us up.

May God bless you.

Prayer Requests (read):

(Pray for someone to repent.)

Please brethren, let us bring this soul to the presence of God.

Sunday Sermon (22 March 2009)

Sunday Sermon (22 March 2009)

Sunday message (22 March 2009)

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We had a great service this past Sunday. Our worship team was on fire. I pray that God may bless the team, and may they grow in their Spiritual life.

I invite you to read the summary of our sermon.

NB: This is just a summary of the sermon.

Don’t give up. Hold on and move on. Persevere and God will bless you. The devil wants to destroy you.

We live in a cruel world.

Take for example, in field athletics; there are many races to be run. I like the one which is called hurdle-race because it symbolize a Christian life. In life there are many challenges. There are many obstacles. Therefore jump those hurdles knowing that you are victorious, and knowing that there are there for a while.

You must know that, our lives are hidden in Heaven with Jesus. When He comes back, our lives will be revealed in Him.

Go with me in the book of Ephesians 4:7, 8, 11, 12 & 13 (New International Version of the Holy Bible)

7 “But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

8 “This is why it says: ‘When he ascended on high, he led captives in His train and gave gifts to men.’

11 “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,

12 “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

13 “ until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

The following are gifts we have from God:

God the Father
God the Son
God the Holy Spirit

These gifts are given unto us in order to be equipped to do a better work for Him; to build His church; a very strong church.

It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers.

It is therefore very important to take care of your pastors. Make them a priority like what a certain widow did to Elijah. She had nothing, but she was able to give the little she had to Elijah.

Read the story of Elijah and the widow;

1 Kings 17: 6-16, (Today’s English Version-Good News Bible);

6 “ He (Elijah) drank water from the brook, and ravens brought him bread and meat every morning and every evening.

7 “After that the brook dried up because of the lack of rain.

8 “ Then the Lord said to Elijah,

9 “ ‘ Now go to the town of Zarephath, near Sidon, and stay there. I have commanded a widow who lives there to feed you.

10 “ So Elijah went to Zarephath, and as he came to the gate of the town, he saw a widow gathering firewood. ‘Please bring me a drink of water,’ he said to her.

11 “And as she was going to get it, he called out, ‘And please bring me some bread, too.’

12 “She answered, ‘By the living Lord your God I swear that I haven’t got any bread. All I have is a handful of flour in a bowl and a drop of olive-oil in a jar. I came here to gather some firewood to take back home and prepare what little I have for my son and me. That will be our last meal, and then we will starve to death.

13 “ ‘Don’t worry,’ Elijah said to her. ‘Go ahead and prepare your meal. But first make a small loaf from what you have bring it to me, and then prepare the rest for you and your son.

14 “For this is what the Lord , the God of Israel, says: ‘The bowl will not run out of flour or the jar run out of oil before the day that, the Lord, send rain.’”

15 “The widow went and did as Elijah had told her, and all of them had enough food for many days.”

The widow was blessed for she took care of the Prophet of God, Elijah.

B. Gifts from the Holy Spirit

Work according to the word of God to receive gifts from the Holy Spirit.

If a Man of God is ministering; he is ministering to God. The message is from God and is delivering it to the church so that the church may grow.

1 Corinthians 12 (Read the whole chapter)

Disappointments may come, but don’t give up. Standstill and be encouraged in the Spiritual side.

When you face storms in your life, you need some encouragement so that you may standstill.

“Jesus”, the author and finisher of our faith, is the one who promised us the gift of the Holy Spirit. Hold unto Him (Holy Spirit).

Do not neglect what the Holy Spirit spoke to you. The Holy Spirit gives us directions.

If you hit the wall, it means you are not listening to the Holy Spirit.

We are controlled by the Holy Spirit, not because of what we see. That’s why we are here.

There must be growth in your life. There must be changes in your Christian life.

When I stand before God, I want God to speak a new thing to me; for He is a living God.

1 Timothy 4:14-16 (New International Version of the Holy Bible)

14 “Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

15 “Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.

16 “Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

This means you must meditate to what God has said to you before. It might be three weeks ago or a long time ago; through His word or through His prophets. Do not neglect what God has said to you.

C. Fighting a Spiritual War Fare

1 Timothy 1:18-20 (New International Version of the Holy Bible)

18 “Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight,

19 “holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.

20 “Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.”

The Holy Spirit helps you to engage in a Spiritual warfare in order to overcome certain things that are an obstacle to your Christian life.

2 Timothy 4:5

5 “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all duties of your ministry.
